After heeding the advice of my learned colleague Clark Shepherd - one of the leading international breeding experts.

I have read this book twice.... great information and philosophy for all breeders and here are some of the outtakes for you including my number 1 philosophy - Sex Balancing back in generations 4-5-6 of the future racehorse.
Since selling my businesses and gradually retracting from property investments, I now dedicate 8-10 hours per day "every day" on my love and passion - Racehorse Breeding.
I've been lucky to have owned some good racehorses and I am now building a broodmare band that will hopefully succeed in the future [even though i have changed direction 3-4 times already].

It's all about pedigree variation [that works] and developing the next 3-4 generations to create the broodmare/s you want as the ideal vehicle to breed good racehorses.
Over the last 18 months, my emotions ranged from doubt to regret and bounce invariably along to pride and success.
It's a game of patience and planning....
Hopefully this book may enlighten you further and guide you on proven paths of success - I ordered this on Amazon in Australia and it was delivered within 24 hours.
The main areas I consider in future mating's include....
Sex Balancing key ancestors in the mating plan of the future racehorse.
Stallion Variation - have a balanced pedigree in the hidden ancestors [gens 7-10]
"Return to the Stallion - the best blood from his own Dam"
Female Family numbers - duplicating the successful families in the pedigree.
Desired stallions in key positions

So many experts in this book discuss the strengths or reinforcement and it is obvious to me that many studs of today, "rinse and repeat" some of the cycles how they introduce the proven formula of a son in his own son or grandson from origin - and then repeat the grandson's nicks and pattern clusters that had worked - into in his future planned offspring.
Return to the chosen Stallion - the best blood from his own Dam.
I have read this theory in so many publications:
Breeding by Design
Legacies of the Turf - great breeding philosophies of the 20th Century
The Matriach's - our Blue Hen broodmares of the 20th Century

Also read detailed articles about close inbreeding and the effect on the future racehorse.

Overall - it's a nice read and you will be more enlightened and informed than before you started !
