Aged old traditional Sire and Broodmare Sire Charts ?

Traditional "Sire and Broodmare Sire" tables measure in the first 2 gens of a pedigree and can become stagnate with 3-4 months of the season remaining - it's a long and slow journey to the obvious finishing positions.

Not all breeders [probably the strong majority of us] can afford the $100,000+ service fee of these leading stallion/s on the table, nor can we pay multi millions for the best race mares at gala auction nights, where the mare is given a direct path to the most expensive and best stallion "almost assuring the vendor of a sales topper in the auction ring within a few years".

Stallion adverts dominate the online publications with colour page advertising of tremendous data, lots of it based on "race performance" - not the genetic breakdown of the new stallion.

I get it and truly understand what keeps these valued and outstanding publications alive, having spent the last 35+ years successfully in marketing, advertising, business consulting and property investments.... So I do understand !

Having sold all of my businesses and turning to broodmare and stallion investments,

It's now time to convert my passion into 8-10 hours every day, presenting an evolving opportunity that includes "bringing to you", varied data and detailed information that may be of future interest.

My focus now, is working with smaller breeders and stallion owners in the majority view of "breed to race" and promoting their unsold weanlings and yearlings, supported by statistical data and their strengths through pedigree analysis.

What about something different ? What about deeper stats/data ?

Based on live data in Australia and beneficial to all breeders, large and small.... "Learn which stallion clusters are working and give hope/thought to the bottom female line of your broodmare - based on the stallion in her 4th generation".

Each Saturday I will record winning results of each city meeting - highlighting different breeding data to the standard available and will publish this information within 24-36 hours.

Results/Tables will be shown in clusters or lineage

As of the 7th September [first Saturday meeting in Spring], I will record and publish weekly tables showing the winners of each race in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Here is the raw data for week 1 - Saturday, 7th September

This will continue through to the Winterbottom Stakes meeting on November 30th.

(Will also include the Flemington Spring Carnival on Tuesday and Thursday] plus any black type races on a Friday or Sunday at city metropolitan venues.

So what are the Clusters for each category ?

Broodmare Sire Cluster or lineage

This will be more interesting and is not obvious reading a form guide,

It will be based on the fourth generation of the pedigree and focus or measure the stallion at the bottom line, where he commences the broodmare line of:

  • "Dam - GrandDam - Great Granddam"

So in essence, the set point of the bottom stallion in the 4th generation, to measure the female lineage for the immediate 3 dams of the racehorse.

This stallion will be noted individually, then an additional measure of the stallion's variation of the dam's line and record tables from the 19th and 21st nick from origin.

The reason for the additional measure of nick 21 is to show the variation within the dominant Pharos line [19th nick].

As you will read from week 1 results, very "modest performed stallions" that sit in the 4th generation of the female line of 3 dams have great results or percentages - in particular those from the Byerly Turk origin.

At the bottom of the report - you can see the consistent results from stallions at this position in the racehorse pedigree.

Week 1 - 7/9/24

Stallion Cluster Leader board:

Leader board - Stallion Cluster

Very Close first week between four stallion lines [nick 24 of origin]

Danehill [10 winners],

Encosta De Lago, Green Desert and Mr Prospector all equal second [7 winners each]

10: 1st is DANEHILL

  • all individual winners and surprise to see only 2 x "big guns" being Fastnet Rock and Snitzel.

7: =2nd is ENCOSTA DE LAGO

  • Zoustar had 3 winners + Deep Field had 2 winners.

7: =2nd is GREEN DESERT

  • I am Invincible with 2 winners was his best performer.

7: =2nd is MR PROSPECTOR

  • American Pharoah was best performed with 2 winners at Parth and Adelaide

3 HIGH CHAPARRAL

  • All indvidual stallions in Dundeel, So You Think and Toronado

3 SIR IVOR

  • All indvidual stallions in Lonhro, Savabeel and Sessions

The full results of every stallion cluster is shown at the bottom of this post.

Leader board - Broodmare Sire lineage at 4th Gen

As expected, PHAROS lines were going to dominate the leader board, however the real battle lies within and the 3 key breakpoints at nick 21 being Nasrullah, Nearctic and Royal Charger is very Close.

The main leader board at nick 19 is:

  • 28 winners to PHAROS line stallions

  • 5 winners to STAR KINGDOM line stallions

  • 3 winners to SICKLE line stallions.

What about the real tussle - the dominant key stallions of Pharos at nick 21:

  • 10 winners to the Nearctic stem

  • 9 winners to the Nasrullah stem

  • 9 winners to the Royal Charger stem

NEARCTIC x 10 winners

NASRULLAH x 9 winners

ROYAL CHARGER x 9 winners

Of the 47 races in week 1, it is interesting that only 3 broodmare sire lines at gen 4, had multiple winners [each had 2] and they were:

  • Danehill [Pharos/Nearctic]

  • Sound Reason [Pharos/Royal Charger]

  • Noble Bijou [Vienna/Noble Bijou]

That means 41 other individual Broodmare Sire lines recording victories [based on that female lineage of the immediate 3 dams], measured by the stallion on the bottom line of the 4th generation.

Current data and summary of high class winners for these Broodmare Sires lineage at 4th Gen
